Come and celebrate stinging nettles
Stinging nettles are clearly Sweden’s most underrated plant! Luckily, things are turning around. Do you also want to know why you should love stinging nettles? Then join us on stinging nettle day, dedicated entirely to nettles and their wonderful properties. You will learn tricks on how to reduce their stinging sensation and appreciate the nettle itself as people have done for thousands of years.
We are located in the Backen area where there are lots of stinging nettles. Learn how to collect stinging nettles for different purposes or delve deep into the different strengths of stinging nettles, focusing on their fibers.
So, on July 24th, we will dedicate the entire day to this special plant. It will simply be stinging nettle day!
Registration is required to be able to keep you updated on where we will be. The afternoon is free, the evening course costs 250 SEK/person.
Afternoon 13.00 – 16.00
Come and join me while I collect stinging nettles and talk a lot about how amazing nettles are!
We will be working in the Backen area in Umeå where there are a lot of stinging nettles. We collect as many as we can and I will show you how to do preparatory work around the fibers. There is a risk of nerdy explanations about how cool stinging nettles are.
The day is free. You will learn how to collect nettles in the best way for different purposes. You are welcome to contribute a little working time and help me prepare some nettles. I will provide coffee and a lot of nettle pepper. Feel free to bring gloves and a knife if you have one.

Learn to appreciate this versatile plant in an inspiring course. We look at its fibers, taste, uses in the garden and yes, celebrate stinging nettle.
